Procedures related to vehicle registration and traffic management to be completed by the office

There are 6 types of offices under the Department of Transportation Management, Traffic Management Office, Vehicle, Motorcycle, Transportation Management Office, Driver's License Office, Vehicle Testing Office, and Transportation Management Service Office. Regarding vehicle registration

Firms or companies that want to import vehicles produced abroad, before coming to Nepal to import and register such vehicles, must obtain from the department Nepal Vehicle Pollution Standards, 2069 (including subsequent amendments)

Engines installed in vehicles produced in Nepal must be certified by the department as being within the Nepal Vehicle Pollution Standards, 2069 (which will be amended later). Vehicles imported from abroad or manufactured in the country must have received a certificate of ability to run on the road from the Department of Civil Aviation.

 Procedure to be followed while registering a new vehicle

Fill the application form in Schedule-4 of Vehicle and Transport Management Regulations, 2054 and pay Rs. A ticket of 10.- will have to be submitted.

The following documents and more must be attached with the application

• A letter certified by the department that the vehicle related to Nepal Vehicle Pollution Standard, 2069 (including subsequent amendments)
• Gross customs declaration and receipt of payment of customs duty (gross declaration will remain at the office),
• Certified copy of vehicle importer firm or company's registered certificate, income tax registration document, tax payment certificate and value added tax registered certificate,
• Photographs of the vehicle showing the chassis number, engine number and the entire physical condition of the vehicles that came for registration,
• During the registration, the relevant vehicle should be brought to the traffic management office and checked.

• Road construction and maintenance fees, vehicle tax, income tax etc. according to the economic law of imported vehicles should be paid according to the schedule.
